Schindler EcoLite Contract
India's first sustainable maintenance contract - certified to cut carbon emissions by up to 35%.
What happens when you combine two great things? Something even greater.
That’s the whole idea behind Schindler EcoLite - sustainable maintenance contracts, which we’ve just introduced in India. By bringing real-time remote monitoring together with smarter, data-led servicing, we're offering our customers maintenance with one of the lowest carbon footprints possible.
The benefits are tangible. Our green maintenance contracts deliver up to a 35 percent reduction in carbon emissions, driven by adaptive and preventive maintenance, compared with a traditional servicing approach.
And it’s not a claim we make lightly. TÜV SÜD, one of the world’s leading and most trusted certification agencies, has certified that number.
A much smaller carbon footprint
A reduction of up to 35 percent in carbon emissions is anything but anecdotal. So how do we get there? By reducing the need for our technicians to travel in the first place. Thanks to real-time access to data from our connected units.
Using the Internet of Elevators and Escalators (IoEE), our connected units generate a constant stream of data that our technicians can access at any time, giving them a detailed picture of what’s happening with our elevators, escalators and moving walkways at any given moment.
Knowledge is power - and greener
Connected units reduce the need for our technicians to travel by giving them all the information they need before they even reach a customer’s site.
Every trip is optimised: our technicians know in advance what issues to look out for and which spare parts and tools to bring. The result is fewer trips, and issues that are resolved faster. By shifting to adaptive and preventive maintenance we anticipate problems before they occur rather than simply reacting to them.
In many cases, connected units can be maintained or troubleshooted remotely, removing the need to travel altogether, significantly reducing the downtime.
Everyone wins
This service also brings us closer to our goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2040. We expect this offering to resonate with building owners keen to make their properties more sustainable. With buildings responsible for around 25 percent of greenhouse gas emissions, and sustainability rising every owner’s agenda, anything we can do to help cut carbon emissions and future-proof a building is welcome.
As the importance of sustainability continues to grow, it’s only a matter of time before customers expect green maintenance as standard. That’s why we’ve already built it into the way we work- so we have a platform ready to meet tomorrow’s needs today.
