Schindler Igniting Minds
Schindler Igniting Minds (SIM) is Schindler India’s flagship CSR initiative that aims to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) learning among students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Through communication training, it also aims to enhance students’ self-confidence. The initiative pays particular attention to technical education for young women in support of Schindler India’s commitment to Inclusion & Diversity.
SIM scholars from various institutions (VJTI, ITI Thane & ITI Panvel), across streams (Mechanical, Electronics, IT, Fitter, Electrical and Electromechanics) had an interactive session with Thomas Oetterli (Schindler Group CEO), Ashok Ramachandran (President & CEO, Schindler India & South Asia) and the Leadership Team of Schindler India.
The importance of education
Schindler India believes that lack of education through social and economic disadvantage is the greatest barrier to equal opportunity. Fulfill Futures - our CSR commitment focuses on bringing about a positive change through various programs and Education is one of the major focus areas in all our programs.
SIM (Schindler Igniting Minds) is part of Schindler India’s broader CSR program, Fulfil Futures, which places significant importance on education. Our Flagship program SIM aligns with the SDG of Quality Education and aims to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) learning among students.
The SIM Youth Program is crafted around Skill India Initiative and endeavours to support and promote technical education by planned interventions that would acquaint SIM scholars with dynamics of the industry thereby leading to their holistic development resulting in creation of a talent pool of industry ready Technicians and Engineers.
We also have a special focus on promoting technical education among girls, resonating our focus on Inclusion & Diversity.
Through a series of such initiatives, Schindler India hopes to make a positive contribution to poverty reduction by breaking down one of the greatest barriers to equal opportunities.
